If you continue the loop after, it can sometimes become a bit muddy and wet. Nothing too bad, we still managed with our runners, but you have to watch your step. My only criticism would be that the crossing of the stream can be a bit challenging for the elderly/ little children if the water level is a bit higher since there is no bridge. It is quite a trek to get to Lake Rotokare behind Eltham but it is certainly worth it.
